I love Defying Gravity from the musical, one of my favourites. And with the brilliant adaptations and emotive / powerful arrangements of, for instance, Somebody to love and Don’t stop believin’, I’m just left a little disappointed with this – I thought it’d be so much more. Still looking forward to the episode loads though!
jon – the episode hasn’t actually aired yet. it comes on next wednesday night (11/11)! we just get to enjoy the music from it a week early.

It wasn’t bad, but even Lea Michele can’t sing as well as Idina Menzel
definitely love the wicked one, it’s just has so much more feeling and grows to a bigger climax, but I don’t hate the glee version but no way it compares to Idina and Kristen’s though. not even.

The glee version when listened to on its own cannot compare to the power of the original version of Defying Gravity.
With that said, the glee version takes a life of it’s own when see in the episode and all the background as to why he is singing it. The song was a powerful part of the story being told in the episode.

Chris Colfer did an amazing job with this song, as well as Lea Michele. They were so spectacular, and the amount of … I don’t want to say pain that was shown in the episode was like wow. I almost cried, this song brings tears to my eyes and I love hearing Chris’ and Lea’s voices together because they sound amazing. It showed how much Kurt wanted it, but then when it showed why he didn’t do it. This song just made me cry, so amazing job Chris and Lea, amazing job <3
